Portugal hires 200 new employees for special educational needs

Portugal's ministry of education is to hire 200 new employees to support children with special educational needs in primary schools, the minister of education said in parliament.

Asked by the Left Bloc party about the lack of operational assistants at schools, Tiago Brandão Rodrigues said the government planned to hire more staff.

He said the government in three years had made positive progress in altering the ratio of employees primary schools should have, resulting in more than 2,000 assistants.
