Portugal wins gymnastics Acrobatic World Cup gold, silver

Portugal has won the gold medal in women’s pairs and silver in men’s groups in the finals of the International Gymnastics Federation Acrobatic World Cup in Belgium both in the World Cup Circuit.

Rita Ferreira and Ana Rita Teixeira made up the Portuguese women’s pair from the Acro Clube da Maia and achieved 28,320 points.
With this result, the pair won first place and the World Cup Circuit.


The men’s group, composed of Henrique Piqueiro, Henrique Silva, Frederico Silva and Miguel Silva, from the Acro Clube de Maia, won second place, behind China, and won the circuit as well.


The women’s group with Bárbara Sequeira, Francisca Maia and Francisca S. Maia, also from the Acro Clube da Maia, reached fifth place and the podium welcomed Russia (1st place) and Belgium (2nd and 3rd).


The mixed pair with Bruno Tavares and Carolinas Dias, from the Acro Clube de Maia, won 28,010 points, landing in fifth place. The podium consisted of Russia (1st and 2nd place) and Kazakhstan (3rd).


The Portuguese gymnasts now continue the qualifying group for the UEFA European Championship which will take place in October in Holon, Israel.
