The study in the journal Scientific Reports has proposed that the pendulums transfer energy to one another through sound pulses.
The Portuguese duo of Henrique Oliveira and Luís Melo said that these pulses might move from clock to clock, perturbing the swing of the pendulums and eventually causing them to synchronise.
According to the Guardian, they developed a complex mathematical model before concluding that the theoretical predictions and simulation matched to perfection.

They could have saved themselves the trouble if only they had bothered to ask me earlier. How else would they synchronize? I knew that since high school.
