Fewer than one in four hotel rooms (20.2 percent) are booked online by people in Portugal, while in the European Union (EU) more than half (54.8 percent) of rooms are booked by Internet, the statistics agency said.
Eurostat was publishing figures from 2014 and noted that Romania (7 percent) and Bulgaria (9 percent) are the two countries where fewest hotel rooms are booked online, while in Holland (69 percent), France (68 percent) and Luxembourg (67 percent), more than two thirds were made on the Internet.
In terms of flight tickets, Portugal (64.8 percent) is just slightly under the European average of 67.4 percent.
Eurostat published the figures to mark international telecommunications day which was held on Tuesday.
