Report flags ‘twelve significant flood risk areas’ in Algarve

The Algarve has twelve significant risk areas for flooding, according to the Preliminary Assessment of Flood Risk report elaborated by the Portuguese Environment Agency.

The documents are up for public consultation phase until 16 December. The list includes two risk zones in Albufeira, two in Faro an others in Aljezur, Loulé, Quarteira, Vale de Lobo, Monchique, Silves, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António. Between 2011 and 2018 seven flood events were recorded in five Algarve municipalities.
