The former Porta Nova hotel was purchased in August from Novo Banco by the AP Hotels & Resorts group and will reopen as the Maria Lounge Hotel.
It is currently undergoing a €2 million makeover. Novo Banco took possession of the hotel last October following the alleged failure to repay a bank loan.
At the time around 100 guests were asked to leave the unit and 40 members of staff were fired.
