Six more women killed by partners, family this year than last

A total of 24 women have this year died at the hands of those with whom they had intimate or family ties.

According to new figures published by the Observatory of Murdered Women, in addition to the 24 fatal victims, a further 16 women survived attempts on their life.

The highest proportion of victims who died as a result of domestic violence was found to be women aged over 65, followed by those aged between 36 and 50, with the majority dying as a result of stabbings.
