Sousa, who is Portugal’s highest ever ranked tennis player at number 31, lost in straight sets to Czech player Jiri Vesely.


Despite losing the first two sets 6-2, 6-2, Sousa played better tennis in the third set, but was his resurgence was ended when his serve was broken at 5 all, allowing the big-hitting 64 seeded player to book his place in the final 16 of the third Grand Slam of the year.
