The bad weather is the result of Storm Gisele, which is the latest in a series of north Atlantic depressions to bring rain into Portugal.
The Portuguese Met Office has also issued yellow weather advisories for all coastal regions, with the Algarve placed on alert until 6pm this evening due to strong winds and stormy seas.
