The decision was announced on Saturday by the Ministry for Internal Affairs.
On top of that 386 GNR officers will be permanently assigned to patrolling large events such as football games and the Faro Bike Meet. Crime, particularly serious and violent crime, dropped by 17 percent during the first five months of this year in comparison to the same period of last year.
So we can look forward to another summer with a dozen bored looking officers in combat dress standing the main square in Lagos town centre every night? I found their presence last year very intimidating and totally over the top.
Maybe this year they will mingle and interact with the tourists?..........some chance!
