A recognisance plane will today be patrolling the skies over the Algarve due a deteriorating in the risk of wildfires.

According to government officials, the plane will focus mostly on the Monchique and Caldeirão mountain ranges.

 

This comes as the Met Office has placed Castro Marim and Alcoutim on the highest level of alert due to the imminent risk of forest fires.

 

São Brás de Alportel and Tavira, are on red alert, while Loulé, Silves, Portimão and Lagos have all been handed an orange advisory.
