The reduced tariff still includes all meals served onboard the flights but excludes luggage.
The low-cost flight prices will be reduced by an average of 34 percent and start from €32 one way, including taxes.
In a statement the national flag-carrier said the move was designed to compete with the lowest-priced market segment.
In related news the Portuguese Competition Authority has approved the shareholder agreement in national flag carrier TAP, which is to give the state a majority control of 50 percent of the airline.
On 26 July, state-holding company Parpública and Atlantic Gateway, the private consortium that won the privatisation tender advised the Competition Authority that there would be joint control of the company.
The Competition Authority has no decided to “adopt a position of no opposition” since the change is not likely to “create significant hindrance to effective competition on the relevant markets.”
The planning and infrastructure minister, Pedro Marques, has argued publically that this deal means the Portuguese are represented in the company and means that the state always has a Word to say about the strategic future of the company.
The TAP board of directors is to have six members appointed by the state and six from the private owners and the chairman, appointed by the state, will have the casting vote. TPN/Lusa.
