These numbers were released following the recent announcement by Gateway, the new owners of the national flag carrier, that they were cutting several flights in and out of the northern city as they were not profitable. The affected destinations are Barcelona, Milan, Brussels and Rome. This announcement was made shortly after TAP said it would be boosting flights between Lisbon and Oporto, while making them as competitively priced as a train ticket between Portugal’s two largest cities.

Please, PLEASE stop referring to PORTO as Oporto. It's not correct in today's world. It's a misspelling, a mispronunciation. There is no need to keep on with this tradition. It's the same as referring to London as "ye olde London".
