Tavira GNR officer suspended after failing to properly log homeless man’s complaint

A GNR officer from Tavira has been sentenced to five days suspension and relegated to a more junior rank for taking a complaint without filling in all the required fields.

As the complainant was homeless, the GNR officer did not fill in his address and telephone details.

The incident happened about a year ago.

The homeless man, of Swiss nationality, went to the Tavira station to file a complaint after his bag was stolen on the beach.

An inquiry concluded the officer acted with "gross negligence".
