The news was announced at the beginning of this week by the Portuguese concert’s promoters Everything is New.
According to the promoters the upcoming tour will be The Cure’s biggest European tour since 2008.
The Lisbon concert is scheduled to start at 8pm at the MEO Arena.
Over the past seven years the band has played at venues in London as well as headlining several European festivals, such as Roskilde, Reading & Leeds, and Optimus Alive!
The Cure Tour 2016 will revisit the band’s 37 year-career of musical hits, from their best-known songs to their lesser-known numbers.
Formed in 1976 The Cure – made up of Robert Smith (voice/guitar), Simon Gallup (bass), Jason Cooper (drums), Roger O’Donnell (keyboards) and Reeves Gabrels (guitar) – are best known for hits including ‘Boys don’t Cry’, ‘Close to Me’, ‘Friday I´m in Love’ and ‘Just Like Heaven’.
They will be supported throughout the tour by opening act The Twilight Sad.
