The two foreigners were found guilty by a Lisbon Court of aiding illegal immigration and forging documents. One of the two defendants, a 34-year-old man, was sentenced to a three-and-a-half year suspended jail sentence, while a 23-year-old was given a year in prison, also suspended. According to SEF the elder suspect set up a scheme in 2009 whereby illegal citizens could acquire residence in Portugal.
