Two state secretaries among 18 Euro2016 trip suspects

Portugal’s public prosecutor’s office has charged 18 suspects, including two former secretaries of state, for unduly receiving benefits in the case of trips to see the Euro2016 football matches, paid for by domestic oil company Galp.

A note from the attorney general’s office also said that included in those charged are two Galp group companies and seven other people who managed or worked at those companies.

The other nine suspects include the two former secretaries of state, two secretary of state chiefs of staff, two government advisors, two mayors and a board director of a public service concessionaire, the attorney general added.
