The ASAE said they were acting after taxi association (ANTRAL) lodged an injunction against Uber that led to the independent drivers being effectively outlawed, after taxi drivers accused it of “unfair competition”.
The police operation was designed to find possible miscreants and eventually identified one vehicle they suspect was operating for the Uber platform.
The ASAE said they discovered that the driver was working for Uber when he was only licensed for “car hire with a driver”, but did not explain the fine details about the difference between this and working for Uber.
The ASAE said they had informed the judicial authorities that UBER was still active despite being officially banned by the courts.
