The EU’s statistics office said unemployment fell in every member state, with Portugal having one of the biggest year-on-year drops (from 8.9% to 6.8%), after Cyprus (from 10.7% to 7.7%) and Greece (from 21.7% to 19.5%, May figures).

In July 2017, the unemployment rate was 9.1% in the single currency area and 7.6% in 28 member states as a whole.

In Portugal, the unemployment rate remained stable and following the EU, with 6.8%

In July, the lowest unemployment rates were in the Czech Republic (2.3%), Germany (3.4%) and Poland (3.5%) and the highest ones to Greece (19.5% in May) and Spain (15.1%).
