A woman was on Sunday evening forcibly removed from US Airways flight 738 after a number of complaints were levelled by passengers and crew at her unruly behaviour.
The plane was preparing to leave Philadelphia en route to Lisbon when the incident reportedly took place.
Kent Parson, who was on the flight, told The Portugal News “she was yelling on the plane, swearing a bunch. People didn’t want on her on and when police tried to escort her off the plane, she started yelling at them and went crazy”, he said, adding: “Great way to start a vacation!”
Mr Irving (@mikeirvingmusic), who runs the website www.mikeirvingmedia.com, told the Daily Mail: “She came on the plane yelling and swearing about how we are going to Portugal and not Brazil.
“Overall, you could sense that people didn't feel comfortable around her. She continued being loud and obnoxious and I'm assuming that some of the families with younger children told the flight attendants, who then called the police.
“When the police came, she refused to move, started screaming at them and telling them she would sue, and when they told her she would be arrested if she didn't cooperate that just edged her on more.”
The US Airways Boeing 757 landed at Lisbon an hour behind schedule, with the disruption in Philadelphia result in a delay in take-off of almost two hours.
The Portugal News has requested a comment on the incident from US Airways.
