Oeiras International School ( OIS) will open on September 6 in Oeiras. The school will hold a launch event at the Hotel Palácio, Estoril on May 18 at 8pm. All are welcome. RSVP’s to email@example.com.
The school will open on September 6, thanks to the hard work of a unique team of parents, students and teachers, friends and committed supporters. The invaluable support of the Oeiras Town Council (owners of Quinta de Nossa Senhora da Conceição), and their belief that the time had come for the Oeiras region to have its own premier international school, has helped materialize the project.
The school is planning to become an International Baccalaureate (IB) School, beginning with students from Years 7 to 12; Year 13 will start the following school year. OIS intends to grow fast, making the best use of the beautiful facilities and extending its offer to the younger years, beginning at the age of 3. Teaching will be in English.
Building their identity, the school chose to join the school motto - “SAPERE AUDE – dare to learn”, with the Bugio Island, situated where the Tagus River meets the Atlantic Ocean. The resulting logo is meant to be a permanent landmark, inviting students to the challenges of learning. The school’s Principal, Dra. Chari Empis, says, “OIS is committed to promoting quality education and values in a changing world, encouraging students to become responsible for their own learning. We will focus on intellectual rigour, helping all students to achieve their full potential.” Registrations for the 2010-2011 school year are now open.
