A new Apple store that was inaugurated in Lisbon on Friday this week (July 13th) is the first of three stores set to open by the end of this year in Portugal and represents an investment of around €350 million.
“Irrespective of the current economic situation, Apple is experiencing a phase of grace with the launch of new products, which do not have an official launch date in Portugal yet but will, as of September, and until the end of the year, be available in this shop” the President of Mobbit Systems, Henrique Couto Martins told Lusa News Agency.
Investment in the new store, which will open in Chiado, downtown Lisbon, is to be footed by Mobbit Systems, a company belonging to the Ongoing media group for digital communication.
“What we intend to offer here is more choice, with a larger portfolio of products, and invest heavily in two markets, in the consumer market and the professional market, with a training area that will open in September”, Mr. Martins added, praising the partnership between Mobbit and Apple that will, by the end of the year, “see another two stores open in Portugal”, believed to be in Lisbon and in Oporto.
“Our limited experience shows us that the Portuguese are very partial to technology”, he commented.
