Algarve Tourist Board backs The Right Juice

The head of the ERTA Algarve Tourist Board has voiced his approval of the expat created, low budget movie ‘The Right Juice’ ahead of its much anticipated public presentation in December. ERTA president António Pina said he believes the film will be an excellent vehicle in promoting the region.

In a statement the ERTA gave its backing of both the movie, which is currently in a stage of pre-production, and its Danish director, Kristjan Knigge.
Set to be screened at the beginning of December, the ERTA describes The Right Juice as a “comedy in English full of Algarvian characters.”
Filming will begin in spring next year, with the entire plot taking place solely in the Algarve.
“We believe in the project for it being an excellent vehicle for promoting the destination, as it is filmed in the Algarve and will be shown on the commercial circuit”, Mr. Pina said.
The local production tells the story of a young English character, Oliver Fellows, who after being hit hard by a London stock market crash decides to travel to the Algarve, where he buys a plot of land and decides to try his hand at the good life. However, events take a dramatic turn when he discovers oil on his land, instead of water.
Director Kristjan Knigge explained: “The film follows and ethical theme about control and water conservation. It has love, action, and also makes you laugh. It will be spoken in English and we hope it will therefore reach the world’s cinemas, promoting the Algarve.”
The movie is being produced by American resident Chris Parker and British ex-pat Barbara Boulter and has a budget of just €340,000.
The Right Juice is backed by the ERTA, the councils of Portimão and Silves, and the Algarve Film Commission.
