In the same period, service revenues rose 5.4% to €232 million, according to the company led by Mário Vaz.

"This performance shows an acceleration of the growth rate of one of the most important business indicators, for the seventh consecutive quarter," Vodafone Portugal said.

Vodafone Portugal's mobile customers total around 4.672 million, of which 1.467 million are 4G customers (+60.6% year-on-year), with "the use of mobile data increasing 22.8% against the previous quarter and 87.5%," on year, the company said.

"From April to June, the fixed-line business once again recordedd strong growth, with the customer base growing 15.9%," year-on-year, "exceeding the 600,000 barrier."

In the quarter under review, the operator reached more than 500,000 customers using Vodafone's state-of-the-art television service.

"The organic growth of the company, strengthening its competitive position and customer satisfaction are testament to the credibility and success of Vodafone's commitment to the Portuguese market," said Mário Vaz, Vodafone Portugal's chief executive.

"At the beginning of the convergence process, Vodafone had just 40,000 television customers. Today, more than half a million customers are proof of the superiority of our state-of-the-art television service. Vodafone, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, pledges to continue to look to the future with ambition and optimism, delivering the best service to its customers," the CEO said.
