A note from the PJ police said the suspect was caught carrying the drug concealed in the lining of three ladies’ handbags from a South American country to Lisbon.
The PJ said that, if it had reached the distribution circuits, there would have been enough drugs “for the composition of at least 31,000 individual doses.”
The detainee was brought before a judge for an initial judicial interrogation and was remanded in custody.
The arrest occurred within the framework of regular control exercised over movements of passengers from countries considered to be of risk, with a view to preventing the introduction of drugs into Portugal and other European countries via international airports.
