My husband and I have been here for two and a half years and feel truly blessed to be living in such a beautiful country. Yes it has it’s flaws, what country hasn’t. But they are far outnumbered by the good points. The Portuguese people are so lovely and always ready to help. We have been very happy with the health system, my husband had shingles, we have both had various tests and xrays and the treatment has always been first class. We have both had our vaccines and the whole system was flawless. The refuse collection is great and so much simpler than putting your bins out weekly (or every other week in some cases!) The streets are always clean and rarely do you see the street bins full.

Yes the bureaucracy here can be frustrating but we are happy to put up with that. The crime rate is low, the cost of living is much lower than in the UK and with the lovely warm weather, beautiful beaches, the beautiful flowers and trees, the fantastic food, cheap wine, we feel truly thankful and blessed to be living here. And yes I am also having two lessons a week to learn the language.
