Speaking after crossing the finish line, the rider from Almada said that this was “one of the best races” of his career.

“Fábio [Quartararo, Yamaha] pressured me for so many laps and ended up overtaking, but I kept my cool and I overtook him again. It was the perfect race,” said Oliveira.

The Portuguese rider thanked KTM mechanics and engineers, who provided him with “a fantastic bike to be on top of the podium”.

Oliveira beat Frenchman Johann Zarco (Ducati) by 0.175 seconds, with Australian Jack Miller (Ducati) finishing in third place, 1.990s off the Portuguese winner.

This is the third victory for the rider from Almada in the MotoGP World Championship, after having won the grand prix of Styria and Portugal in 2020.
