Cristiano Ronaldo can now charge as much as $1.6 million for a single post, almost double what he was able to charge in 2019 ($889,00).

The captain of the Portuguese football team makes an estimated $40 million annually from Instagram which is more than his salary as a player at the Italian Serie A club Juventus.

Ronaldo has managed to knock Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson from the top spot while also leapfrogging Kylie Jenner in a list that is heavily dominated by US celebrities.

The earning powers for Ronaldo come largely thanks to the fact that he is the most followed person on Instagram with more than 300 million fans, with him adding more than 125 million fans since the beginning of last year alone.

“With the Euros starting earlier this month and a few controversial marketing moves over the last couple of weeks,” Ronaldo’s presence has skyrocketed,” said Mike Bandar, a co-founder of HopperHQ.com, which compiles the unofficial annual list of Instagram’s top earners. “Just a week ago he confirmed his king of Instagram status as he became the most-followed person on the platform.”
