“With the ‘Surf No Crowd’ programme, we want to transform the beaches in the municipalities of Cantanhede, Figueira da Foz and Mira into a single surf destination for families and friends,” said the president of the CIM of the Region of Coimbra, José Carlos Alexandrino.

The initiative aims to “demonstrate the potential of Surf No Crowd destinations, highlighting the singularities of each territory for activities related to surfing, bodyboarding, stand up paddle, among other nautical activities”, states a press release.

“The aim is to stimulate the search for excellent conditions for the practice of the sport, preserving its identity, uniqueness and attracting surfers, who value contact with nature”, said the Mayor of Cantanhede, Helena Teodósio.
“We want them to discover our heritage, delight in our cuisine and enjoy our wines”, she stressed.

Gonçalo Cadilhe, travel writer and surfer, Miguel Blanco, two-time national surfing champion, and Cláudia Pinto, presenter and model, are the ambassadors who will participate in this initiative.

“We want to associate surfing with nature and this project leverages that, as well as nature tourism linked to gastronomy and the local economy”, said the mayor of Mira, Raul Almeida.

The “Surf No Crowd” project is created in cooperation between CIM-RC, Turismo do Centro de Portugal and Turismo Portugal.
