20 Portuguese at World Para Athletics Championships

Portugal will be represented by 20 athletes at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships held in Dubai from 7 to 15 November, in which they can secure places for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

The Portuguese delegation, to be led by Jorge Correia, member of the Executive Committee of the Paralympic Committee of Portugal, includes the athletes Lenine Cunha, Ana Filipe and Inês Fernandes, who won medals at INAS Global Games in October.

Classifications up to and including fourth place ensure a quota per country for the Paralympic Games, which will be held in the Japanese capital and for which Portugal has already secured a place in the marathon race.

In addition to the athletes, the delegation is composed of four technical sports assistants, a guide, 13 coaches, three professionals for medical support and two heads of the Portuguese Athletics Federation, a total of 44 members.
