Parliament has pre-scheduled to Friday, 20 November, at 9:00 am, the debate and vote on the possible renewal of the state of emergency.

According to sources from several parliamentary groups, the intention is that the meeting, already scheduled for Friday to discuss the State Budget proposal for 2021, should be brought forward one hour, to 9:00 am.

The current period of 15 days of state of emergency, which was approved in parliament with votes in favour of PS, PSD and CDS-PP, abstentions from BE, PAN and Chega and votes against from PCP, ENP and Liberal Initiative, ends at 23: 59 pm of 23 November.

In order to renew this legal framework for the adoption of covid-19 containment measures for another 15 days, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa must have listened to the Government and be authorised by the Assembly of the Republic, a process that should take place until Friday.
