Portugal’s president, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, is to address the nation on Friday, 4 December, at 8pm.

The address is expected to come after Parliament's likely approval of the renewal of the State of Emergency, to curb the covid-19 pandemic. This news was broken by Rádio Renascença, which says that the decree, to be released on Thursday, is being drafted and should be similar to what is currently in force. The current emergency period ends at 11:59pm on December 8. If it is renewed for another 15 days, the new state of emergency will start at 00:00 on December 9th and will end at 11.59pm on December 23rd.
