“In view of the existing knowledge and techniques, we believe it is possible to find a more friendly solution to the environment, to the management and planning of the territory and, above all, to the citizens and the country. A solution that contributes positively to the necessary economic and social development of the country, as well as to combat climate change”, they stressed.

In the letter, the group considered positive the statements that were being made in order to “take advantage of the current pandemic and the crisis arising in the airport sector to face, without pressure, a better solution than the wrong option to build a new airport in Montijo.

The subscribers also expressed their total availability to contribute to an adequate and fair solutions based on a cost-benefit goal and strategic of Portugal.

The Government will have to carry out, next year, a Strategic Environmental Assessment for the new airport in Lisbon.
