Seven districts under Yellow warming

The districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Vila Real and Viseu are today and tomorrow, 10 December, under yellow warning due to rain forecast, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

These six districts, will be under yellow warning between 9:00 pm today and 6:00 am on 10 December due to the forecast of heavy rain.

The IPMA predicts for today in the northern and central regions of the mainland generally cloudy skies in the interior until late in the morning and periods of rain, especially in the south of the Montejunto-Estrela Mountains.

From the end of the afternoon, periods of heavy and persistent rain are foreseen in Minho, gradually extending to the rest of the region.

The forecast also points wind between weak and moderate strength from the south, becoming moderate to strong on the coast by the end of the day, and being strong in the highlands from the end of the afternoon, with gusts up to 80 kilometres per hour at the end of the day.

The yellow warning is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
