“4,234 applications have already been submitted to the notice ‘More Sustainable Buildings 2020/2021’, which is expected to use up the total amount of €4.5 million, the total amount budgeted for this support,” the executive said in a statement.

So far, 890 applications have been paid out, corresponding to €1.75 million.

The programme will be closed at the end of December, “given its success,” but all applications submitted by the end of that period will be supported through the Environmental Fund, which, if necessary, will be reinforced, the ministry said.

Applications will be reopened in March 2021, with amounts from the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

“Expenses incurred by those interested in applying, as of 1 January, will be eligible under the new programme, which is why they should keep the invoices/receipts related to those expenses,” the ministry headed by Matos Fernandes warned.

The programme to support more sustainable buildings aims to rehabilitate and improve the energy and water performance of buildings.
