When questioned about his campaign budget, the candidate declared that it is "25 thousand euros", adding: "I intend not to spend more than that".

According to the document delivered to the Constitutional Court, most of the expenses will be for "administrative and operational costs", amounting to €16,000. The candidate estimates also spending €3,500 on "advertising, print and digital communication" and €1,500 on "campaign design, communication agencies and market studies".

One year after his election, on January 24, 2017, the President of the Republic announced the decision to donate the remaining 45 thousand euros from his campaign to a private institution of social solidarity in Cinfães, in the district of Viseu, and to a Mogadouro school, in the Bragança district.
