In a statement sent to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM), Jerónimo Martins said that “2020 closes with a strong performance marked by an action more than ever focused on consumer needs, in a particularly difficult context”.
Last year, Pingo Doce’s sales fell 1.9 percent to €3.869 million, while Recheio’s fell 15.9 percent to €847 million.
In Poland, Biedronka’s sales increased 6.7 percent (+ 10.4 percent in local currency) to €13,465 million, with Hebe (health and wellness chain) falling 5.4 percent to €245 million.
In Colombia, the Ara chain saw sales grow 8.9 percent to (+ 24.4 percent in local currency) to €854 million.
If Jerónimo Martins has raised its profits, couldn´t they afford to buy decent plastic sheets to protect cashier workers at Pingo Doce? Because compared to protections offered to its cashiers by Aldi and Continente, Pingo Doce cashiers have a pathetic notion of protection: the small, thick plastic window is not wide enough to provide them decent protection. I don´t work for any spmkt, i´m just a concerned costumer.
