Costa warns that English variant may represent half of cases in Lisbon area

Close to a third of all cases of covid-19 in the country may be the new variant detected in the United Kingdom.

Portugal’s prime minister has said that the English variant of coronavirus may already represent about half of the cases of infections now registered in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, and about 32% of the cases in the country. According to a document from the Directorate-General for Health, close to a third of all cases of covid-19 in the country may correspond to the new variant detected in the United Kingdom.
