Six districts in mainland Portugal are now under an orange weather warning due to the forecast of strong maritime unrest, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

The districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra and Leiria are under orange warning due to the forecast of maritime agitation with northwest waves of 5 to 6 metres, reaching a maximum height of 10/11 metres, until midnight, then turning to a yellow warning until Wednesday. The IPMA also placed the districts of Lisbon, Setúbal, Beja and Faro under a yellow warning because of sea agitation with waves from the northwest with 4 to 5 metres until 3am on Tuesday.
