"Mank" and "The Crown" most nominated for Golden Globes

David Fincher's film "Mank" and the Netflix series "The Crown" lead the Golden Globe nominations, announced by the Foreign Press Association in Hollywood, United States.

The nominees for the 78th Golden Globe Awards reflect the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on the film industry in 2020, with the postponement of in-room premieres and the showing of more productions on streaming platforms or in the context of festivals. According to the organization's accounts, Netflix has 22 nominations in the film categories and 20 in television categories, followed by Amazon Studios with seven film nominations and HBO on television.

David Fincher's "Mank," produced and premiered on Netflix, is the most nominated film in this Golden Globes edition, in six categories, including Best Drama, Director, Screenplay (for Jack Fincher, the director's father), and Actor in Drama, for Gary Oldman. Aaron Sorkin's film "The 7s", also screened on that platform, brings together five Golden Globe nominations in Best Drama, Director, Screenplay and Male Representation, with Sasha Baron Cohen. For the best achievement award there is a prevalence of women, with nominees Emerald Fennell ("Promising young woman"), Regina King ("One night in Miami...") and Chloé Zhao ("Nomadland - Survive in America"), which are joined by David Fincher ("Mank") and Aaron Sorkin ("The 7 of Chicago").
