The Socialist Party (PS) municipal deputies proposed on 15 February that the municipality award the city's gold medal to health professionals from the Oporto Hospital Centre and the São João University Hospital Centre.

During the regular session of the Porto City Council meeting, held by videoconference, Deputy Pedro Braga de Carvalho, PS, said it was "the right time to pay public tribute to health professionals from the two central hospitals of the city of Porto.

The deputy, who highlighted "the resistance, unparalleled sacrifice and absolute dedication to the cause and profession" of health professionals, proposed the awarding of the municipality's gold grade medal.

"We bring a proposal to the Porto City Council so that at the time it considers most appropriate it may award the municipality's gold grade medal, or any other distinction it deems appropriate," the socialist deputy stressed.
