With an average of just over 5 inoculations per 100 inhabitants, Portugal is currently 35th in the world for vaccinations against Covid-19.

According to Our World Data, Gibraltar and Israel currently dispute the top of the table with an inoculation rate of just over 78. They were followed by the Seychelles and the United Arab Emirates, which are the only other countries with a rate above 50 percent and twice as many as the next country on the list.

On a national level, vaccination rates are the highest in the north, with the Algarve the lowest, with just one percent.

The Algarve should break from Lisbon. Forge closer economic links with Andalusia. Lisbon is all take - and no understanding of this region so its control is for the most part positively harmful.

Great, so no summer holidays outside of Portugal for Portuguese residents under 50. Other EU countries already saying a vaccine passport will be required for tourism travel.

As usual the Algarve draws the short straw. Don't understand why it isn't allowed to be an autonomous region, it would do better.

Great reward for the Algarve who follow the rules with care and generate Taxes through tourism. So the north get immunised so to continue the parties. That makes it unlikely Algarve can open up this summer if population open to infection. Short sighted of the policy makers.

I just hope I get a choice. Don't want to wait months, then get the Astra zeneca vaccine, where the efficacy was much lower and now appears ineffective against some of the new variants. But being below 50, I am probably going to be dumped with that, while the decent vaccine is given to older groups. South Africa has already cancelled their AZ order and is going for the Jansen vaccine instead....

Why is Algarve so low ?

Because there is no government here `?
Or high rate of residences without Portugal citizenship. Not so important ?
