More than 40 percent of deaths in Portugal between late January and early February were attributed to Covid-19, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) released on 19 February.
Of the 8,536 deaths between 25 January and 7 February, 3,633 were due to the disease caused by the new coronavirus, equivalent to 42.5 percent of the total.
In this period, "the number of deaths decreased, although it remains much higher than that observed since the beginning of the pandemic," INE said, indicating that the week from 25 to 31 January was the worst in terms of deaths (4,711) since the start of the pandemic.
No surprise, no statistics of influenza this year!
