The 15,000 volunteer, sapper and municipal firefighters included as priorities for the first phase of vaccination against Covid-19 have all been vaccinated, according to the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI).

The vaccination process of 15 thousand firefighters began on 11 February and was completed last week, said a source of MAI to Lusa.

Firefighters were considered a priority in this first phase of the vaccination process taking into account the essential function of the State that they perform and due to the operational dimension of pre-hospital transport they perform.

According to MAI, the order of vaccination of these firefighters was defined by the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection "based on operational criteria and covered the universe of volunteers, sappers and municipal".

In this first phase, which lasted two weeks, about 50 percent of the total number of firefighters was vaccinated against Covid-19.
