The captain of the national team has been the subject of criticism recently, following the elimination of Juventus from the Champions League.

“I’m sure [Cristiano Ronaldo] comes, as always, super motivated. It’s not about scoring more goals or less. I hope he will come with the same ambition that he has always shown, not thinking about personal goals, but in realising those of the national team”, said Fernando Santos.

The national team will now be playing in their qualifying matches for the Qatar 2022 World Cup with the first match on March 24 against Azerbaijan this will then be followed by a game against Serbia in Belgrade on 27 March and Luxembourg in Luxembourg City three days later. The three games start at 7.45pm.
