"Yes, it is confirmed. The President, as I understand it, is going to the Azores on Saturday, and will come here on Sunday," said Miguel Albuquerque.

The president of the PSD/CDS-PP coalition regional government was speaking on the sidelines of a visit to a company in the parish of Canhas, municipality of Ponta do Sol, in western Madeira.

"I think it will be important [Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa's visit] to talk about some of the dossiers that are pending, namely the Regional Finances Law, the issue of consolidation and pacification regarding the International Business Centre and the possible constitutional revision process, in which Madeira wants to play an active role," he said.

The President of the Republic had scheduled a visit to the autonomous region on 5 March, but it was postponed due to the forecast of strong wind in the area of Madeira International Airport.
