Lisbon inaugurates one of largest intensive care units in Portugal

Lisbon’s Santa Maria Hospital is today inaugurating one of the largest intensive care units in the country.

The brand new multi-purpose Intensive Care Unit represents an investment of 3.4 million euros that will allow the hospital to respond to the most critically ill patients and offer better care conditions.

It contains 25 beds and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment worth 1.8 million euros. In addition to state investment and own funds, the new unit received donations from several patrons, such as the Oriente Foundation, footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and businessman Jorge Mendes.
