People under the age of 60 who have been vaccinated with a first dose of the Astrazeneca vaccine can receive a second dose of a vaccine from Pfizer or Moderna, according to a new ruling from Portugal’s Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

The DGS directive, released on Friday, updated previous recommendations relating to the Vaxzevria vaccine, previously known as Astrazeneca.

In early April Portuguese health authorities recommended that it be administered only to people aged 60 or over.
