CP has announced that it will resume on 12 June, on a regular basis, trips on the “Vouga Historic Train”, between Aveiro and Macinhata do Vouga, aboard the five historic carriages driven by diesel locomotive.

Every Saturday until October 9, the train will leave Aveiro Station at 1:40 pm, bound for Macinhata do Vouga, making a stop in Águeda.

On the way back, the train departs at 4:25pm, with a stop in Águeda, for about 27 minutes, in a programme that includes a guided tour of the city's historic centre and the riverside area.

In May, CP made four special trips on the Vouga Line with the historic train, but with a steam locomotive, which in summer is replaced by a diesel locomotive to avoid the risk of spreading forest fires.

On May 8 and 9, “Neapolitan” carriages manufactured in Naples in the 1930s, which have been recently renovated, were hitched to an old steam locomotive, built by the German house Henschel & Sohn.
