Last week Portugal administered about one million vaccines against Covid-19 in the continental territory alone and surpassed the target of 850,000 inoculations.

The team led by Vice Admiral Henrique Gouveia e Melo highlighted the “exceptional high vaccination rate” due to the greater availability of vaccines and the reduction to eight weeks of the interval between the two doses of the vaccine developed by AstraZeneca.

“There was an additional effort made to strengthen the security of us all”, said the ‘task force’ communiqué, which thanks the “will, understanding and tolerance of all Portuguese” and attributed this achievement “to the delivery of all those involved”, namely the 4,700 health professionals and employees of various entities.
